Colin Hansen

Colin Hansen joined KWL in 2016 after having spent over 18 years as a civil engineer in diverse roles in both the private and public sectors in Alberta.  Colin’s municipal engineering expertise includes water and wastewater linear infrastructure, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, stormwater management facilities, water treatment plant expansions and yard piping, and sanitary sewer inflow and infiltration (I&I) projects.  He was the lead engineer for the start of the City of Calgary’s I&I program, and he has experience working on multidisciplinary design teams on projects up to $100 million.  Colin also has experience in oil sands surface water management, water balance studies, evapotranspiration processes, hydraulic structures, and physically-based numerical modeling using MIKE SHE and HYDRUS-1D software.  Colin has a Master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering and has published research involving the use of regional frequency analysis methods for the estimation of extreme rainfall.
