• Aldrin Pump Station

  • Burnaby, BC

KWL designed and oversaw construction of the Aldrin Pump Station (formerly Duthie Pump Station).  The station was constructed to augment the supply of water to Burnaby Mountain, and to the surrounding zones (Curtis-Duthie and Pandora).  It replaced the aging Curtis Pump Station. The station is located alongside an Urban Trail within a residential area and is considered a “post-disaster” facility.

The facility includes:

  • an aesthetically pleasing building
  • a rest area with a community notice board, art features and an interpretive display that draw attention to the pump station and encourage awareness and sustainable use of water
  • a diesel generating unit for independent operation in case of power outage, and
  • stringent noise attenuation.

The building features cross-laminated timber panel construction, a green roof, and sound-reducing ventilation systems.  Should additional capacity be required, there is room for another pump within the station.
