Experience

Dirk Scharbatke joined KWL in November 2021 and is a project manager with a technical background in civil engineering. Throughout his career he has been involved in conceptual, detailed design, and construction support of water-related projects including riverbank and creek erosion control and flood protection, municipal potable water, wastewater, and stormwater structures as well as river diversions and fish habitat compensation lakes in industrial mining environments.

Dirk has a strong operational background from his time as the owner of the water supply, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure at Chestermere Utilities Inc. Upon completion of his projects, he focuses on the long-term operability and maintenance of the structures as well as high quality standards to reduce future repair and maintenance efforts as much as possible.
