Confidential – Feasibility Application for Data Center

Project Highlights

KWL supported a confidential proponent with engineering and advisory services related to the BC Hydro call for demand.  Work included evaluation of different site options, completion of the initial application, continuing into feasibility-stage support.

During the initial phase, KWL assisted with completion of BC Hydro application materials related to power connection requirements, considering different capacity scenarios, including support with application forms and technical information required.  Following a successful initial application, KWL provided phase 2 support for the feasibility-stage application process.  This included assistance with completion of the BC Hydro Feasibility Study Form, development of a single line diagram, advice on distribution and transmission power rates, and support for meetings with BC Hydro, the client, and project partners.

KWL also considered broader infrastructure and sustainability issues associated with data centre development, including power supply, backup generation options, district energy integration, cooling-related water demand, alternative water sources and coordination with utilities and approval agencies.  This included consideration of water conservation opportunities, including feasibility of rainwater harvesting, considering precipitation patterns and storage requirements.
