Experience

Joining Kerr Wood Leidal Associates (KWL) in 2021, Clayton Hiles, a Senior Coastal Engineer, leverages his engineering, coastal science, statistics, GIS, and scientific computing expertise.  His diverse skill set and leadership in coastal modelling enrich KWL’s consulting environment.

Clayton’s technical prowess encompasses ocean modelling (wave, tide, tsunami), data analysis, and statistics.  His work spans various sectors, including hazard assessment, coastal protection, marine operations, and renewable energy.  Clayton has significant experience with the development, operation, and maintenance of oceanographic sensors, as well as establishing standards-based data archives.  His academic contribution to the field is evident in his authorship of 17 peer-reviewed publications.

Driven by a passion for advancing our understanding of the coastal environment, Clayton applies cutting-edge science to manage the associated risks and opportunities better.  His expertise and dedication make him a valuable member of the KWL team.
