Civic Centre District Energy Feasibility Study

Project Highlights
In this ongoing conceptual design and feasibility study KWL and its partners are examining the development of a DES that will link the buildings in the City of Surrey’s Civic Centre project and plan for expansion to adjacent areas in the future. The initial DES hub development is highly time-sensitive, as two of the buildings (Library and new City Hall) in the Civic Centre project will be constructed by 2013. This project addresses technical, economics, and utility management issues in the development of a DE utility. District energy options reviewed in this study include geoexchange, biomass, natural gas cogeneration and sewage heat recovery.
